Fear A Day 1: Hanging Out in a Haunted Spot
This is a perplexing fear for me. Most of the time I don't take any of this all that seriously. I can laugh off the idea of sharing space with some kind of other worldly energy. But then it's the middle of the night, and I am believing. I am definitely uneasy and pretty spastic when I think some spirit might be lurking about.
An additionally kind of strange thing about facing this fear, the haunted location where this photo was taken is a place I had already photographed so many times. It's actually one of my favorite places to shoot. Months earlier I was working on a project exploring the idea of dreams being a portal to the afterlife and chose this place as my primary location. I attempted to recreate a dream, inserting personal items of my recently deceased grandfather into the landscape. Until I started researching haunted locations in or around Delaware, I had never heard of this spot being haunted. Since I had to choose somewhere to confront this fear, I thought the place where I had been taking my dead grandfather's stuff to would be appropriate. Of course none of the things that were written about this place online happened. We encountered zero ghosts. There was a bit of a creep factor, but I think it was mostly because it was so incredibly dark.
